Dog shelter in San Luis, Mexico asking community for help

KYMA

SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA) - In San Luis, Mexico, there is a place where barking turns into stories of hope.

Refugio Pio is a shelter for abandoned dogs that has been open for 17 years.

Currently, the shelter houses 105 dogs.

Now they're needing help from the community.

They're looking for dog food, veterinary supplies and financial contributions, to help sustain the shelter.

Martha Jimenez, funder of Pio Refuge, said, “I do it out of love, because I love dogs. I started with one, then two, and before I knew it I had 105 dogs. Now I've been going through some tough times because I got sick.”

The shelter invites anyone who wishes to donate to contact them directly through Facebook.
