FIRST ALERT: Tracking widespread showers and flooding risks for Friday
A third lower-pressure system will bring the Desert Southwest rain showers as early as tonight and become more widespread for Friday. Risk of flooding and gusty winds is possible.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - I am issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day for Friday due to the wet weather and possible flooding risks throughout the day Friday.

We have a third lower pressure system that will move in later tonight and tomorrow, bringing additional showers and even chillier temperatures to the Desert Southwest.

Showers are expected to move in late tonight for Imperial County, and it will eventually make its way to Yuma County later in the night and around 11 pm.

A FLOOD WATCH is issued for the entire Desert Southwest starting at midnight tonight through midnight Friday (MST time).
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas and flood-prone areas. Remember TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

Things will become more widespread on Friday morning and will continue on and off throughout the day.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible along with thunderstorms.

Rain totals are looking between a tenth to 3 quarters of an inch, with higher amounts expected in thunderstorms. But looking at our rainfall model, it is showing areas could get up to an inch or more.

With all the wet weather and flooding potential for Friday here are some tips to prepare for the active weather.

The wettest day will be Friday, and showers are still be possible for Saturday. Temperatures will also take a big dip as highs will be in the mid to upper 50s. Make sure to have your umbrellas and sweaters ready to go, you will need them.
Tracking clearer, warmer, and drier conditions come next week. Right now, Thanksgiving is looking to be nice and pleasant.
