FIRST ALERT: Tracking a cold weather system on the way
A cold weather system will soon move in and is expected to bring in chillier temperatures and higher rain chances later this week to the Desert Southwest.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Wednesday! Thankfully, temperatures are a little cooler than the last few days and we are staying away from record territory.
Highs are still trending well above average for this time of year, but hey at least we are away from the 90s.

It’s been pretty cloudy today, and we will continue to have cloudy to mostly cloudy skies sticking with us through tonight, but not tracking any rain as we will stay comfortably dry for now.
Temperatures will be nice and cool after the sun goes down with overnight lows cooling to the low to mid-60s by Thursday morning.

We have big weather changes still on the way as I am tracking a low-pressure and cold weather system that will continue to work its way from the west and is expected to arrive in the Desert Southwest by the end of the week.
This system is expected to bring cooler temperatures, breezier conditions, and rain showers to our area.

As of now, Yuma has a 20-70% chance of showers Friday through Saturday. The greatest day is looking on Saturday.

Rain totals as of right now are still uncertain, but numbers are reading a tenth and up to 3 quarters of an inch. As we get closer, rain totals will become a little more accurate, so I will continue to track and bring more updates in the days ahead.

We have higher rain chances Friday and Saturday, which will lead to Weather Authority First Alert Action Days Friday-Saturday.
Also, get your sweaters and jackets ready because we have chillier temperatures on the way. We can have daytime highs dipping into the upper 60s with lows in the upper 40s between this weekend and even next week. We could also could have chances for showers even into early next week.
