FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking showers and storms through Friday
Remnants from Mario is bringing in rain and storms to the Desert Southwest that could lead to risks of heavy rain and flooding.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - High moisture from Mario is bringing in high humidity, leading to showers and storms to the Desert Southwest through Friday morning.
A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is issued through Friday morning due to the potential of heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding and gusty winds. We will need to take ACTION when the wet weather arrives.

Tracking on and off showers and storms this evening and through early Friday morning. Much better rain activity is expected throughout the day and night on Thursday.
If any thunderstorms develop thunder, lightning, heavy rain, and strong winds are possible.

Flood WATCH is issued for Imperial County at 5 a.m. Thursday until 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Excessive rainfall is possible with rain totals of 0.10"-0.50", with some areas possibly reaching over 1.00". Excessive runoff may result in flooding in streams, low-lying, and flood-prone areas.

From today through Friday, rain totals right now are looking between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Higher amounts will be in thunderstorms.
This isn't set and stoned, but just an estimate.

Temperatures will also be a little bit cooler for the rest of the week with highs in the mid and upper 90s, but with the high humidity, it will feel hot and sticky.

Shower and storm activity will be possible through Friday morning, which is why a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day will remain in place.
We will have clearer and drier conditions for the first day of fall on Monday, but prepare for warmer than normal temperatures by Wednesday, with highs that will climb near the mid 100s. At least toward the end of next week overnight lows will be in the upper and mid 70s.
