FIRST ALERT: Tracking showers and storms for this weekend
Remnants from Tropical Storm Alvin are expected to bring the Desert Southwest showers and chance for thunderstorms this weekend. The greatest chance is looking Sunday into Sunday night.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Tropical Storm Alvin continues to weaken and has a current path moving toward the north. We are expected to get the remnants from Alvin, which will bring in showers and storms to the Desert Southwest this weekend.

I am issuing a First Alert ACTION DAY due to the likely chances for showers and storms and possible measurable rain Saturday night- Sunday night for the Desert Southwest.
There are impacts for heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Flooding could also be possible.

A weather pattern change will also bring in cooler temperatures this weekend, as a lower pressure system from the south moves closer to the Desert Southwest while steering in tropical moisture.

This tropical moisture will bring in chance for scattered to widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms starting Saturday night-Sunday. Sunday is the best chance for showers and storms.

Rain totals right now are looking about a tenth to a quarter of an inch, and higher amounts are in thunderstorms.

A First Alert ACTION DAY will take over Saturday night through Sunday night due to the likely chances for showers and storms and possible measurable rain on Sunday for the Desert Southwest.
We will have more sunshine, drier conditions, and slightly cooler temperatures next week. But a big warm-up will move in later next week with highs in the low to mid 100s.
