A weather system is moving through the area today and tomorrow bringing in strong winds and a brief cooling trend. Tracking warmer and calmer conditions later this week.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's been a warm but seasonable afternoon with cloudy skies and strong winds.
If you are heading out this evening to celebrate make sure to wear green and dress warm as it will be cooling down and be aware of the stronger winds and dust will impact our night.

We have strong westerly winds keeping us breezy and windy through the night with wind gusts 35-45 MPH. Blowing dust is possible, so make sure to drive with caution and try to spend time indoors.
Even going into Tuesday we will have breezy and windy conditions again where gusts could peak up to 35 MPH.

There is a Winds Advisory for Imperial County and Yuma until 5 a.m. Tuesday for strong winds and dust.
That's why I am putting us under a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day through early tomorrow morning due to gusty winds.

This current weather system is not only bringing in the winds, but it will cool temperatures back down below normal for the first half of the week.
Get ready a big warm-up is on the way! Take a look at our temperature outlook in the days ahead, we are going to be warming up to well above normal and even record temperatures.

Temperatures will then gradually warm through the remainder of the week and go back above normal by the end of the workweek with highs in the mid-80s before warming to the 90s for next week.
Enjoy the final days of Winter, Spring is just around the corner! The first day of spring is at 2:01 a.m. MST on Thursday, and we will have lots of sunshine and warm temps. Perfect spring-like weather.
