FIRST ALERT: Storm #2 moves in Thursday bringing more rain plus winds and chillier temps
Get ready as a even stronger storm system will move in Thursday which will lead to a First Alert Action Day as I am tracking rain, strong winds, and dust.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - RESHARE! In case you missed the announcement last night, the dry streak in Yuma has come to an end at 215 days, the 4th longest streak on record. Yuma airport has measured 0.03" as of 8:57 PM MST last night.
More areas within Yuma and Imperial counties also received measurable rain last night with amounts between a few hundredths or a little over a tenth of an inch.

GET READY! Pacific low pressure system #2 will move in tomorrow morning to the Desert Southwest bringing colder weather, more rain, and very strong winds throughout the day.

A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION DAY is issued and will go back into effect Thursday morning through Thursday night due widespread showers, chance for thunderstorms, and strong winds.
This could lead to impacts to our area like wet roads, minor flooding, dangerous lightning, and blowing dust from the winds.

Showers will start to move in as early as Thursday morning and is expected to last before 2 pm.
Chance for thunderstorms and possible heavy rain could be possible.

Another round of measurable rain is possible through Friday with amounts between a tenth and up to a quarter of an inch.

We will also have very strong winds being a concern tomorrow. There is a Wind Advisory issued for the entire Desert Southwest as we will have strong southwesterly winds with wind gusts between 45-50 MPH.
This will go into effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday as these winds will be going on all day.

We will become breezy starting in the late morning hours and then winds will really ramp up by the afternoon and carry through the night.
You can just see on our futuretrack wind gust map it's going to be a very windy day.

Active weather will take over tomorrow as we have rain, winds, and chillier temperatures with highs in the mid and upper 60s, which is why we will be under a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day!
Thankfully, more sunshine, drier conditions, and warmer temperatures for the weekend leading to highs in the 80s for St. Patrick's Day. As we look ahead to the first day of spring we will be starting the season with beautiful weather.

Don't forget! This Thursday, March 13th is the Full Blood Moon and a view of the Total Lunar Eclipse. This is when the moon will be in the Earth's shadow, appearing reddish or orange.
But with all the active weather moving in again on Thursday, we may or may not be able to get the best view. The best time to view in the Desert Southwest is from 8:57 pm MST Thursday, March 13th and will last through 3:00 a.m. MST Friday, March 14th. This will last about 6 hours. Read more about when to see it here.
