Excessive Heat Warning is back in effect until Friday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A ridge of high pressure expands bringing back drier conditions and hotter temperatures.

An Excessive Heat Warning is now in effect for the Desert Southwest until Friday evening.

As for this evening, winds will stay light tonight, with stronger winds expected tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Patchy blowing dust will be possible after 5 pm Wednesday (tomorrow) in Imperial County where highest gusts of 25 MPH will be expected.

Increasing moisture is expected later this week, which will bring greater opportunities for rain showers and thunderstorms toward the end of the week and into early next week.

Temperatures will cool back down to near seasonal norms by Sunday and will linger into the first half of next week.
