Rising temperatures for Father’s Day weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Happy Friday, today highs will trend in the upper 90s and low 100s, but still staying a few degrees below normal.

Breezy conditions are expected again tonight where highest peak gusts of 20 MPH will be possible, stronger winds will favor in Imperial County.

A ridge of high pressure continues to strengthen in Mexico, which will bring us some heat here in the Desert Southwest.

For Father's Day weekend temperatures will peak Saturday and Sunday where highs will range 104-107 degrees.

Dry conditions will continue, with temperatures rising back to near normal/slightly above through at least the start of next week.

As temperatures continue to heat up, make sure to stay inside and if you are going to be spending time outdoors make sure to take extra precautions.

The Imperial County APCD has issued an Air Quality Alert for Imperial Valley Saturday, June 17th from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. due to high levels of ozone (smog).

As a storm system moving across the west coast will deliver breezy to windy conditions Sunday and Monday.

Highest peak gusts are expected at 25-40 MPH
