Rollover crash results in one death, YCSO responds

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) responded to a fatal crash that occurred on Monday.

YCSO also said the crash happened near County 13th Street and Avenue G.

When they arrived at the scene, YCSO learned that both a brown 2002 Toyota Tacoma and a silver 2013 Nissan Altima traveled down Avenue G when they crashed head-on.

The Tacoma, traveling north, crossed into the center lane and collided with the Altima, traveling south.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Altima, 31-year-old Yoselin Martinez of Somerton, sustained injuries and died on the scene.

However, the three-year-old boy in the Altima sustained minor injuries and paramedics took the child to the Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC).

The driver and the passenger of the Tacoma survived and paramedics also took them to YRMC for medical treatment.

While YCSO notified the next of kin, the investigation remains ongoing. YCSO also said that alcohol might have factored in the crash.

If anyone has any information regarding the case, then contact YCSO at (928) 783-4427 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous. You can also visit YCSO's website to submit an anonymous tip.
