Vote to avert railroad strike coming from House
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - House speaker Nancy Pelosi says her chamber will vote as early as this morning on averting a rail workers strike.
And the measure appears to have bipartisan support, but, that doesn't mean lawmakers want to get involved.
It looks like enough lawmakers are on board to pass a bill averting a railroad shutdown.
Top leaders in both parties met with President Biden yesterday.
The Senate could take up the plan this week or next, after the house vote, according to several Senate sources.
A strike could increase prices for Americans already grappling with high inflation.
But, that doesn't mean national leaders are enthusiastic about getting involved with a labor dispute.
Members of four rail unions rejected a previous agreement and are ready to strike over issues like paid sick time.
