Biggest climate bill in U.S. history heads to House after weekend win for Senate Democrats

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - In Washington, Senate Democrats are heading back to their home states for the August break energized after a big legislative win over the weekend.

Senators are now poised to pass a bill containing the biggest plan to combat climate change in U.S. history.

It's called the Inflation Reduction Act  and the Senate voted Sunday - getting a breaking tie vote from Vice President Kamala Harris after the vote turned out to be deadlocked at 50-50. This means the U.S. will soon work at going greener and is likely to approve the bill as early as this week.

It already passed an earlier version -- and every Democrat in the Senate voted for the final plan.

The bill would approve tax credits for things like solar panels and electric HVAC systems, and it extends a credit for electric vehicles. It also invests at least $60 billion in domestic clean energy solutions.

The bill is not expected to get much Republican support in the House, after already getting none in the Senate.

In addition to green initiatives -- the bill seeks to rein in prescription drug prices for medicare recipient and it would impose a minimum 15% tax on large corporations.
