EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Candidates are competing for the Imperial Irrigation District's 3rd division.

It's the division with the most candidates for this year's election. The division is being contested by four determined candidates.

Don C. Campbell, Ramon Castro, Gina Young Dockstader, and Maria Nava-Froelich are all up for election.

Division three includes Brawley, Calipatria, Niland and the South East area of the Salton Sea.

Ramon Castro says he looks forward to serving the underserved communities if he is elected.

"I want to focus on Niland and Calipatria's water making it more affordable if I am elected," he said.

Maria Nava-Froelich who is also running for division three echoed Castros' remarks.

"Calipatria and Niland especially are being left out a lot of the times, developers are not coming," she said.

News 11's Wiley Jawhary will have the details on this division's campaign on the Evening Edition at 6 p.m.
