Local author promotes his latest novel

YUMA, Ariz (KYMA, KECY) - An author from Yuma, Austin S. Belanger, has just released his newest book, The Long Run to Redemption.

This is the third book in the Tales of the Ert series.

"I basically created my own world. It's a hero story from the beginnings to when the guy becomes a big deal, and all the things that happen, all the trials and tribulations he has in life, and how becomes a champion," Belanger spoke.

In addition to being a published author, Belanger was also a U.S. Marine, and incorporated his military background in the series.

Belanger plans on having five books in total for the series.

When he first started out, Belanger ran into a problem, and a friend helped him out.

"A friend of mine, Brad Pearson, was helping me with the first book when I was first was figuring out how to even write a story. He told me that when he was reading the first book, I was missing the bad guy element," Belanger explained.

Once he took his friend's suggestion to heart, Belanger went to work and finished the Champion of the Golden Queen and submitted the final draft to an independent publishing company.

However, like most medieval fantasy stories, there was a fork in the road on his journey to publication.

"I was originally picked up by a publishing company. It was called TitanInKorp. They went out of business right before my book came up, and it was unfortunate. I was stuck with these manuscripts, so I went through Amazon KDP," Belanger said.

While he enjoyed his experience with Amazon KDP, Belanger had to do the brunt work of promoting his books.

Fortunately, he got together with a former employee of TitanInKorp to not only help him publish the series, but also create the artwork for the covers.

You can purchase that and the other two novels, The Champion of the Golden Queen and In the Shadow of the Great Wall, at Rudy's Phenomenal Games or on Amazon.
