Residents given opportunity to dispose of unused medicine in Take Back Initiative

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Local law enforcement agencies made an announcement by inviting the public to the National Takeback Initiative to anonymously throw away any unwanted prescription drugs.

The Yuma Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration will be collecting any kind of prescription drug for any reason, whether they're expired or unused.

Anyone may take their pills to the Yuma Police Department on April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for free disposal.

Residents are advised not to dispose their unused medicine by flushing them in the bathroom or throwing in them in the trash due to potential safety hazards.
