Agents arrest man with previous conviction of child abuse

Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested an undocumented immigrant who had a previous conviction of child abuse.

On Friday morning, agents were told of two people who attempted to hide from Border Patrol but were found by tracking their footprints.

33-year-old Carlos Arturas Vargas-Duron was found nine miles east of the Andrade/ California Port of Entry.

He attempted to flee but ran until exhaustion and was arrested about a hundred yards from Interstate 8.

Vargas-Duron was taken in for processing, where records showed his previous December 2019 conviction of first and second-degree child abuse for fracturing a newborn's skull.
