California ticket wins Powerball’s $699.8 million jackpot
Seventh largest in American lottery history
IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY/CNN) - The Multi-State Lottery Association (MSLA) announced Monday a winner to the seventh largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history at $699.8 million.
California Lottery confirms the winning ticket was purchased at a grocery store in the coastal California city of Morro Bay.
According to the MSLA, the winning numbers were 12, 22, 54, 66, and 69, with a Powerball number of 15.
If the winner chooses the lump-sum cash option, they can walk away with $496 million instantly.
Powerball clarified $1 million-winning tickets were also sold in Arizona, Florida and Virginia each; while two $1 million-winning tickets happened to be come out of Massachusetts.
Also, a Tennessee ticket matched the five white balls and included the Power Play feature, doubling the prize to $2 million, per Powerball.
MSLA organizers admit while the jackpot was the seventh largest in U.S. lottery history, it was the fifth-biggest prize for Powerball.
