Biden to address nation on end of Afghanistan war
(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - President Biden will address the nation Tuesday, marking the end of the war in Afghanistan.
Pentagon officials confirmed Monday that the last U.S. military planes have left Afghanistan.
The U.S. departure marks the end of the chaotic and deadly exit from the United States' longest war.
13 U.S. service members were killed last week in a suicide bombing attack at Kabul's airport as troops worked to evacuate people from the area.
Biden released a statement Monday, thanking the final U.S. forces serving in Afghanistan for executing the "Dangerous retrograde from Afghanistan as scheduled," with no further loss of American lives.
The pentagon said Monday, more than 122,000 people have been airlifted from Hamid Karzai International airport since July.
Biden's remarks Tuesday are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EST.
