Fire breaks out near Highway 98 east of Calexico

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Firefighters are currently extinguishing a second alarm vegetation fire near Highway 98 east of Calexico.

The Imperial County Fire Department says the fire broke out Wednesday morning in a remote location. However, firefighters are concerned the fire may damage the power lines in the area.

Fire crews say several fire engines and emergency vehicles are parked on Highway 98. Use caution and avoid the area.

No other information was released.
