Road closures coming to SR-86 at Adams Avenue
Detours onto N. Imperial Avenue, Villa Avenue, N. La Brucherie Road
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Crews will close eastbound and westbound Adams Avenue at the intersection with State Route 86 (SR-86)/N. Imperial Avenue Wednesday, June 2, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ongoing pavement improvements, according to Caltrans. There will be no through traffic on Adams Avenue across SR-86/N. Imperial Avenue during the closure.
Signs will be posted detouring motorists on westbound Adams Avenue to turn right onto N. Imperial Avenue/SR-86, then left onto Main Street, left on S. 8th Street to Adams Avenue.
Motorists traveling eastbound on Adams Avenue will be detoured to turn right onto N. Imperial Avenue/SR-86 then left onto Villa Avenue, left onto N. La Brucherie Road to Adams Avenue.
Weekday paving operations will continue Thursday, June 3, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists can expect lane closures along the 1.5-mile project area between SR-86/Adams Avenue just west of Wilson Street to SR-86/N. Imperial Avenue at Treshill Road.
One lane in each direction remain open during the work and access to businesses will remain open. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to allow additional travel time.
Nighttime closures are anticipated to take place in mid-June. Details will be made available when the closures are scheduled.
The SR-86 Pavement Rehabilitation Project will repave a 1.5-mile section of SR-86 in the City of El Centro from SR-86/Adams Avenue just west of Wilson Street to SR-86/N. Imperial Avenue at Treshill Road. The work includes sidewalk repairs, intersection treatments and thermoplastic striping and markings.
Construction activities will involve lane closures, temporary driveway and intersection closures. The project is expected to be completed in mid-August.
Caltrans thanks community members for their understanding during the construction improvements. Crews will mitigate construction noise and dust as much as possible.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents or construction-related issues.
