New facility in Niland houses multiple substations

Imperial County Board of Supervisors holds ribbon cutting ceremony

NILAND, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A new facility opens in Niland Friday. It is the new home for both the Imperial County Fire and Sheriff substations.

This brand new facility also includes a cooling center to help locals escape the hot temperatures.

Prior to this facility, a special district that was dissolved several years ago operated a public fire station in the area. So, it's a welcome change for Niland.

The County hopes this will also allow for a quicker response time during fires. Additionally, the facility will serve as an educational resource for the community.
