APS customers to receive settlement checks

Customers will receive checks in the next few weeks

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Attorney General's Office said thousands of Arizona Public Service (APS) customers would be receiving settlement checks in the mail over the next few weeks.

APS will be sending checks totaling $24 million to approximately 210,000 customers who were not on their economic rate plan for electric utility service.

The AG's office said, "Eligible consumers either will receive a $98 check if they were not on their most economical rate plan or varying restitution if they were impacted by the 2017 letter. All consumers receiving restitution also will receive a letter from the Attorney General's Office confirming the settlement and that the checks are valid.

AG's office said the settlement was reached after APS did not inform its customers of switching their plans. Customers should deposit or cash checks within 90 days. For more information about the refunds or plans, dial 602-371-7171.
