Upon investigation, officers concluded a white 2016 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Avenue C and failed to yield at a posted stop sign at Highway 95. It was then that the Honda collided with a gray 2014 Nissan Altima, which was traveling northeast on Highway 95.

The driver of the Nissan Altima sustained minor injuries and refused medical care.

However, the driver of the Honda Civic was transported by Somerton/Cocopah ambulance to Yuma Regional Medical Center, and was later flown out to a Phoenix area hospital in critical condition.

This case remains under investigation, with YCSO conducting the traffic examination. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

Anyone with information regarding this case, please contact the YCSO at 928-783-4427 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous. You may also visit their website to submit an anonymous tip.
