IMPERIAL COUNTY - The 28-year-old woman suspected of carrying the coronavirus in Mexicali has tested negative for the virus.

Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) announced Friday night the woman has been hospitalized in Mexicali since symptoms began and remained in isolation until results were finalized.

The woman recently traveled to Europe and Mexico, and she is a resident of El Centro.

Yesterday Mexico confirmed its first cases of Coronavirus, amid rising numbers in Europe.

ICPHD says there have been no confirmed cases in the Imperial County and risk of infection remains low.

The department also reminds residents that of the 10 confirmed cases in California, there have been no deaths.
