Agents arrest sex offender in Calexico

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested a previously deported sex offender last Wednesday.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), agents found a man suspected of illegally entering the U.S., approximately 18 miles east of the Calexico Downtown Port of Entry.

After agents checked his record, they identified the man as 39-year-old Carlos Campos. A Mexican national who was convicted on January 2010 for Sexual Battery out of Los Angeles.

Campos was sentenced to three months in jail and was placed on three years of probation for his crime.

CBP says Campos was removed from the U.S., in January 2012.

Campos is being held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.
