2 people rescued in SLRC after hoax death threats

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Mexico (KYMA, KECY)- Two victims are rescued in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico after being extorted by their kidnappers Tuesday.

Tribuna de San Luis reports the two victims said their kidnappers claimed to have their mother in captivity, and in exchange asked for millions of dollars for her release.

The victims, originally from Mexicali, were forced by their kidnappers to stay in a hotel room or they would kill their mother.

Family members reported the two victims missing in Mexicali, however, Mexican authorities found their vehicle in San Luis.

Upon their rescue, Mexican police made the victims aware that their mother was safe and that the phone calls they had received were a hoax.
