MS-13 gang member arrested crossing border in Calexico

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)- An MS-13 gang member was arrested Saturday after illegally entering the U.S., in Calexico.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said agents arrested 21-year-old Kevin Josue Gomez-Escorcia, a Honduran national.

CBP said Gomez's records showed he was formally removed from the U.S. by an immigration judge in January 2017 in Florence, Ariz.

Gomez is a self-admitted MS-13 gang member also known as Mara Salvatrucha gang.

Agents said he is being held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.
