Pokémon cards fetch $2 million at auction

(CBS, KYMA) - Pokemon cards left in one attic for 15 years have fetched a staggering $2 million at auction.

A retired decorator from the U.K. began collecting these sets of Pokemon cards in the late nineties after he saw his son take up the hobby.

The man, who remains anonymous, said he bought some collections off eBay from someone in Malaysia storing them all in his attic after his son lost interest.

But years later, when he read a newspaper article about a Pokemon card fetching $8,000 at auction, he realized their value.

The auction for the 41 sets held on Wednesday attracted bidders from around the world.

The most valuable lot was a set that included a Charizard card in mint condition bagging over $100,000.
