American Airlines flight makes emergency landing at Chicago O’Hare after flat tire

CHICAGO (NBC, KYMA) - An American Airlines flight from Barcelona made an emergency landing at Chicago's O'Hare Airport after a brake issue caused a tire to go flat.

According to the FAA, the Boeing 787-800 landed safely around 2:20 p.m. Eastern Tuesday after the crew reported a problem with the aircraft's brakes.

The mechanical issue caused the brakes to drag along the runway during landing, likely causing one of the tires to go flat.

First responders met the aircraft as a precaution, and passengers were transported by bus to the terminal.

American Airlines said no one was injured and the aircraft has been taken out of service for inspection by its maintenance team.

However, the Chicago Fire Department said one person was transported to a local hospital in good condition following the incident.
