Actress Christina Applegate says she was misdiagnosed with MS

(NBC, KYMA) - Actress Christina Applegate revealed Tuesday her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis five years ago was a misdiagnosis.

On the latest episode of her podcast, the Emmy nominee tearfully recalled being told by a doctor recently, "Congratulations. You don't have MS."

She said she was not happy about the news, saying, "You don't get misdiagnosed and then all of a sudden I'm better."

Applegate said she continues to deal with debilitating health issues, and said after this latest news, she feels she is now "back at square one."

MS is a progressive disease that disrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and can cause severe pain, fatigue and paralysis.

Applegate said her doctors are now working to find the underlying cause of her health problems.
