Treasure hunt worth thousands happening in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (NBC, KYMA) - Thousands of dollars in prizes are ready to be found this week in Philadelphia.

For the second year in a row, a coin dealer is sending willing participants on a treasure hunt. It's a modern-day treasure hunt in Philadelphia.

But in 2026, you don't need the old map with the dotted line where "X" marks the spot.

Nowadays, all you need is a social media account. We've seen mystery hands hiding large sums of money all throughout the city lately.

For five days, everyone will have the chance to find one of these special certificates hidden in Philadelphia.

You find it, you strike gold, winning anything from rare coins to special bills. In total, $10,000 dollars in prizes are up for grabs this week.

The video clue drops on Stack's Bowers Instagram account at 5:30 each night until Saturday.

The mystery man behind the account @findthecashphl, with nearly 200,000 followers, has been doing this for months. He's now collaborating with Stack's Bowers, a rare coin auctioneer, this week.
