News outlets seek White House access extension

(NBC, KYMA) - Several news outlets covering the White House are asking a judge to let them keep doing their job beyond next week.

Last week, CNN, MS Now and Politico regained access to the White House after President Trump banned them.

But that win was only temporary and expires October 8th.

They're asking the judge to extend his block on Trump's ban.

The administration has argued white house access is a privilege not a right, alleging certain reporting compromised national security.

In filings the outlets pushed back arguing they weren't banned for national security reasons, but because President Trump didn't like the outlets' coverage of him.

In his temporary restraining order last week, the judge wrote that Trump's ban was likely unconstitutional and the plaintiffs' lawsuit would likely succeed on due process grounds.
