Massachusetts judge signals mistrial in case of mother accused of killing her children

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (CNN, KYMA/NBC) - A Massachusetts judge has signaled a mistrial in the case of Lindsay Clancy, the mother and former nurse accused of killing her three young children.

The judge gave Clancy's defense an hour to seek an emergency appeal before moving forward with the mistrial.

Clancy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the 2023 deaths of her children, ages five, three and eight months.

Her attorneys argued she should not be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Court notes indicated the jury was split 11-to-one for acquittal before deadlocking.
