At least 39 injured, 300 homes after tornado rips through villages in France

CAZILHAC, France (CBS, KYMA) - At least 39 people were injured and 300 homes damaged after a tornado ripped through villages in southern France Monday, authorities said Tuesday morning.

X user @recifalnews captured the moment the tornado formed from his home Cazilhac, approximately 9 km (5.5 miles) from Pomas, where most of the damage happened.

The French national weather service, Meteo-France, said winds had reached up to 117 km/h (72 mph) in the nearby village of Arquettes-en-Val.

An estimated 2,800 homes were left without electricity across 10 villages, officials told Le Monde.
