Luigi Mangione’s state murder trial postponed

NEW YORK (CNN, KYMA) - A judge in New York has postponed Luigi Mangione's state trial on murder charges.

The trial was set to begin next month.

Last week, Mangione pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Mangione's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the state murder case.

They argue trying him in New York would amount to double jeopardy and violate his constitutional rights.

The judge set a court hearing for December to decide whether the state trial should proceed.
