Twin red panda cubs born at U.K. zoo

BROXBOURNE, U.K. (CBS, KYMA) - Twin red panda cubs were recently born at Hertfordshire Zoo in Broxbourne, United Kingdom.

The zoo released the footage showing the cubs, born on June 3, with first-time mom, Nila.

"Keepers report that Nila has proved to be an exceptional first-time mother, keeping her newborn cubs safely hidden away in the nest boxes and thick bushes of her custom-designed habitat to ensure they remain protected during their initial vulnerable weeks," the zoo said in a press release.

The zoo said the cubs' birth marks the first time red panda twins were born at the zoo in 12 years.

In an updated post on social media, the zoo said they nicknamed the cubs as "the Little Red twins" as they don't have names yet.

The red panda is listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.
