Severe flooding swamps roads in Old East Dallas

DALLAS (CBS, KYMA) - Heavy rain caused severe flash floods in Dallas Friday morning, submerging roads and, in some areas, leaving vehicles stranded.

Footage posted on Instagram by @marisaedallas shows a flooded street and water encroaching on homes in the Old East Dallas area.

"Insane morning at our house," she wrote in the Instagram post.

The National Weather Service said showers and storms would continue to move east across the area Friday afternoon, bringing lightning, gusty winds and more heavy rain.
