PCOS changes to PMOS

(CBS, KYMA) - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCSO) has changed its name to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)

The change comes after a global consensus among medical experts and patients, and 14 years of studies.

"The Endocrine Society" says the name change is huge for the understanding of this condition that impacts one in eight women, or roughly 170 million women worldwide.

The World Health Organization says up to 70% of affected women go undiagnosed.

PMOS is very common, about one in eight women struggle with the disease. It can lead to irregular periods, hair loss, severe acne, weight changes, and infertility, to name a few.
