Two dead in small plane crash in Minnesota

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (NBC, KYMA) - A small plane crashed and caught fire in a Minneapolis suburb Saturday morning, killing two people on board.

Police say the plane had problems shortly after taking off from a small airport and went down in a park in the suburb of Brooklyn Park.

"Right now, preliminary information leads us to believe it was very shortly after taking off that it crashed," said Matt Rabe with the Brooklyn Park Police Department.

The FAA says there were two people on board, and police say they did not survive.

The National Transportation Safety Board says it is investigating the crash involving a Beech F33A airplane, and says its investigators will be on scene later Saturday or Sunday.

It's unclear where the plane was headed.
