U.K. National Lottery to participate in first Powerball drawing this summer

(CBS, KYMA) - The U.K. National Lottery will participate in its first Powerball drawing later this summer, subject to final regulatory approval from the U.K. regulator, the Gambling Commission.

The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), representing 39 U.S. lotteries, announced a historic agreement with Allwyn U.K., the government-authorized operator of The U.K. National Lottery.

With this partnership, the number of lotteries pooling funds for the Powerball jackpot will increase from 48 U.S. lotteries to 49 with the addition of The U.K. National Lottery.

Lotteries in the United States and The U.K. National Lottery will pool funds only for the Powerball jackpot, not lower-tier prizes.
