Statue of Tina Turner unveiled in her Tennessee hometown

(CBS, KYMA) - A statue depicting the famed singer Tina Turner was unveiled in her hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee Saturday.

The sculpture was produced by Atlanta-based artist Fred Ajanogha and was installed across from Carver High School, which Turner once attended, during the annual Tina Turner Heritage Days celebrations.

Video from the Brownsville Haywood County Chamber of Commerce shows the moment the statue was revealed to a crowd of spectators.

"Honored to represent the Chamber today at the unveiling of the Tina Turner statue! A powerful tribute to an icon whose legacy continues to inspire strength, resilience, and greatness right here in our community," said in a post to Facebook.
