Mark Carney to remain the Prime Minister of Canada

OTTAWA, Canada (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Mark Carney will remain the Prime Minister of Canada.

According to the CBC, it is too early to know whether the Liberals would win enough seats to form a majority government, but it projected another term for the party.

Carney is a former central banker, having served as the governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England.

He was elected prime minister by the Liberal Party in March to replace Justin Trudeau after he announced his resignation earlier this year.

During his victory speech, Carney stressed the importance of Canadian unity in the face of threats coming from Washington, D.C.

President Donald Trump has said he may annex Canada and place stiff tariffs on the country.
