Vatican releases first photo of Pope Francis celebrating Mass

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Pope Francis celebrated Mass Sunday among priests while recovering in Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

The Vatican released the first photo of the 88-year-old pontiff in the hospital since he began treatment for double pneumonia in mid-February.

Pope Francis is shown taking part in what the Vatican described as a con-celebration Mass in the hospital's chapel.

According to the Vatican, the pope remains stable and continues his physical and respiratory therapy.

The Vatican says that Pope Francis also worked a little during the day and the results of his work will be seen in the coming days.
