FAA approves new 737 Max 9’s method of inspecting planes

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the process for airlines to inspect grounded Boeing 737 Max 9 jets so that they can return to service.

According to the FAA's website, the Boeing 737 Max 9 planes remain grounded until operators complete enhanced inspections which include the left and right cabin door exit plugs, door components, and fasteners.

The emergency inspections come after a section of an Alaska Airlines flight, a 737 Max 9 aircraft, blew out late Friday.

Since preliminary expectations began on Saturday, United Airlines says it has found loose bolts on some boeing 737 Max 9 planes in its fleet.

So far, around 200 Max 9 flights have been canceled and significant cancellations are expected on Tuesday.
