One dead, 15 injured in Chicago bus crash

CHICAGO, Illi. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - One person is dead and more than 15 others injured after a wrong-way driver slammed into a chicago transit authority bus Sunday morning.

According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the crash occurred around 6:00am Central Time on South SuAable Lake Shore Drive.

A vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with the bus. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of that vehicle and another passenger were also taken to area hospitals where they were listed in critical condition.

The driver of the bus, along with 12 bus passengers, were transported to hospitals with a variety of injuries, according to police.

The Chicago Fire Department (CFD) says seven other individuals refused treatment at the scene.
