February 15, 2020

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma Proving Ground wants you to mark your calendars for its YPG 2020 Celebration less than two months away.

YPG is one of the military's largest installations in the world, actually bigger than the state of Rhode Island, and it's right in Yuma's backyard.

YPG 2020 is an open house celebration put on every two years.

It invites the community beyond those two big guns on Highway 95 for an inside look at some of its daily activities.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jamathon Nelson said, “It’s your one chance to get up and close and get to see what our warfighters actually use. From M1 tanks to Bradleys, to the different vehicles that we have. The Blackhawk helicopters. And of course the entertainment. It’s actually something for everyone."

In 2018, 2,500 people attended the event.

This year, there will be live exhibits, performances, food, and so much more.

YPG 2020 is on February 15, 2020, from 10 am till 7 pm at YPG's Cox Field.
