Dog dies after undergoing sterilization at animal control center in San Luis, Mexico

SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA) - A dog died after undergoing sterilization procedures at the city's Animal Control Center in San Luis, Mexico.

It was reported that seven dogs have reportedly died after the same procedure, raising concerns about the veterinary care provided by the city's Animal Control Center.

According to reports, the dog returned home after the surgery, but died the following day.

Other pet owners have also reported that their dogs were returned to them while still under the effects of anesthesia and never woke up.

San Luis, Mexico Mayor Ivan Sandoval's statement came out as calls grow for a thorough investigation into the seven reported deaths.

"We will remain vigilant to ensure compliance with the Animal Control Regulations recently approved by the Honorable City Council," Mayor Sandoval remarked. "The Director of Public Health will file the corresponding complaint with the Comptroller's Office so that a thorough investigation can be conducted and responsibilities determined."

Allegations have raised concerns about possible internal bleeding, although the exact causes of the deaths have not been confirmed.
