Cooling spots set up around San Luis, Mexico

SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA) - Several businesses in San Luis, Mexico teamed up with firefighters to help protect locals from heat illnesses this summer.

Around ten businesses set up cooling spots, including water and a place to rest, especially during heat peak hours.

The service is free and open during business hours.

"It's important to have the cooling spots. People can have a place to hydrate in an area prepared and ready for them," said Elisa Elizalde, receptionist for Santa Margarita Hospital.

Local businesses say they will have the cooling spots open throughout the summer months and even further if needed.
