Yuma locals celebrate Hanukkah with meaningful traditions
YUMA, Ariz. (KMYA, KECY) - In 2024, Hanukkah began the same day as Christmas.
With Christmas behind us, the Festival of Light continues in Yuma.
Local families are celebrating Hanukkah with meaningful traditions and a strong sense of community.
"Hanukkah is about miracles and I really believe that life is a miracle. Every day that we get to be in this body and experience life is a miracle," said Krissy Lavotshkin, a Yuma resident.
"And we light a candle every single night and try to spread the light of love and peace throughout the world," said Rachael Barkley, another Yuma resident.
"My favorite thing is having people over so they can meet each other, have delicious food, and spend the holiday together," said Dana Hopkins, another Yuma resident.
Hanukkah celebrations are lighting up homes and hearts. For eight nights, families come together to share blessings and keep holiday traditions alive.
