The new year brings hope for homeless pets

YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - The Humane Society of Yuma is ringing in the new year with new hope for many of the homeless pets that call their kennel home.

The Humane Society's rescue coordinator said it’s a busy yet rewarding time of the year.

Adding that they work with over 40 transfer partner organizations from across the state and sometimes across the country who accept dogs and cats from our shelter.

And because the shelter is so full right now, they rely heavily on them to assist, now more than ever.

Thursday morning seven pets were loaded onto a van and transported to the Phoenix area to find their forever homes.

Samantha Byrd will have more on how this process works, tonight at 6.
